The Gravenstein Apple Fair is ready to serve up a host of delicious treats and family-favorite activities Aug. 11 and 12. The festival, supporting sustainable agricultural diversity, includes puppet shows, music, farm animal displays, a petting zoo, field games, hula-hooping and arts and crafts. There are also fun contests for children, like a water balloon toss, pie eating, whistling and watermelon eating. Kids can win prizes playing “Lucky Duck,” “Human Slot Machine” and “Bean Bag Toss.” For the first time this year, there will also a tug of war competition between fire department personnel, police officers, club and high school athletes. Families can also take advantage of the Life on the Farm Stage to learn about raising bees, milking cows and goats, sheering sheep, composting and processing food. A full musical line up and a bevy of local food and wine purveyors will keep the masses well fed and entertained. Check out all fun at Ragle Ranch Regional Park from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Entry fees range from $12 to $3 depending on age. gravensteinapplefair.com for information.
