PHILOSOPHY, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The Cardinal Newman High School community has committed itself to the principles of Christian education and the pursuit of educational excellence. In emphasizing the teachings of Christ, the faculty, staff, students and parents strive to work together to establish a living Christian community.
Cardinal Newman recognizes that the primary responsibility for the spiritual, moral, intellectual, physical and social development of the student belongs to the family. We serve to facilitate and supplement the family in this vital task.
It is the firm belief of the Cardinal Newman community that quality education is best realized, and future leaders nurtured, in a caring, Christian environment. We encourage students to develop and enhance their creative and critical thinking abilities. Our results include an increased embrace of moral values and social responsibility.
As a Catholic school, Cardinal Newman strives to imbue Christian values through the study of the Bible and the teachings of the Church. In our effort to help students understand Christ's teachings and form similar values, our campus ministry program provides experiences in prayer, liturgy, retreats, and community service. Our students, parents, and faculty have opportunities to share in worship and to develop Christian awareness.
Cardinal Newman offers a college preparatory curriculum for those students seeking college and university entrance. The comprehensive curriculum is also tailored to meet the diverse needs and educational objectives of all students. The overall development of the student is balanced through his involvement in diverse cultural and physical extracurricular activities, student government, and the provision of comprehensive counseling and disciplinary programs.
