Much Ado is a family-friendly Renaissance Faire that is drawing interest from all around the north bay area, filling the void left by closure of other Renaissance Faires. Partnering with professional Renaissance Reenactment Guilds such as the renowned Guild of St. George, Inc. St. George’s is a nobility guild and will be bringing Queen Elizabeth and Shakespeare to the Faire. St. Michaels, a military guild, and the Ottoman Traders Guild will be at Much Ado as well. The guilds will bring history to life with entertainment throughout the streets of Fenford, our Renaissance village at Ives Park.
Ongoing entertainment is scheduled to take place on 3 stages – a main stage hosting musical and theatre performances, a kids stage featuring juggling, story telling, fencing demos, and more and an eastern stage with belly dancing. There will also be roving performances and interactive “living history” performances and workshops; 20-30 minute historical informational sessions and demonstrations (e.g. spinning, blacksmithing, etc.)
Crafts where attendees can make keepsakes will be on offer. Children and adults alike can make sachets, herbal soaps, decorate wooden boxes, wood toys, pouches, masks, garlands and decorated staffs. There will be games for all ages, such as Rat-a-pult (launching stuffed rats with catapult) and Rounder (medieval baseball) and a Student Passport Program for students to learn about Renaissance Life as they play. A wide variety of small Renaissance vendors plus a silent auction will also be available for those who like to shop, plus food, including grilled meats, crepes and gallettes and Greek food. All proceeds from this Faire will go to benefit students at Park Side, Pine Crest, Brook Haven and REACH schools in the Sebastopol Union School District. Much Ado About Sebastopol will take place on Saturday, September 18 from 10am – 6pm in Ives Park. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students presale and $12 for adults and $6 at the gate. An evening event called Much Ado “To Do” will be held after the Faire closes from 6:30-9:30pm, again at Ives Park. It will host a live auction, food from local restaurants, drink, and exotic entertainment. Tickets are $15 at door ($10 presales), food and drink sold separately. Tickets for both events can be purchased at Peoples Music, Copperfields in Sebastopol or visit their website at www.muchadoaboutsebastopol.org.
