Super Kids Camp at SSU

1801 E. Cotati Avenue
Rohnert Park, California 94928

"Children have the opportunity to learn and improve their sports, drama, science, and art knowledge and skills, as well as to improve their social interaction skills in a safe environment."

Sonoma State University's Super Kids Camp was founded in 1992. Our summer program is a ten week program that hosts about a hundred campers per day on our beautiful campus. We hire sixteen counselors to maintain an eight-to-one camper to counselor ratio throughout the day. We welcome campers age five-eleven and group them into Littles (age 5-6), Middles (age 7-9), and Bigs (age 10-11) to allow them to make friends with other peers their age.

Summer Camp

Theme Weeks

Our campers never get bored of the same old routine at camp! Weekly themes make it possible for our super kids to expect fun and exciting activities every time they come to camp.

Lesson Plans

As students, we understand that children often forget much of what they've learned during the school year, which is why we emphasize learning at SKC. Our counselors work hard to create and teach a forty-five minute lesson in Art, Science, Drama, or Sports that is age appropriate for each group. With our schedule, you can ensure your child will get to experience each of these subjects.

Rock Wall Climbing

Every Monday, campers experience the adrenaline rush of rock climbing on the fabulous SSU rock climbing wall. All counselors are belay certified. There are smaller activities such as bracelet making, coloring, and reading for those campers who don't want to climb.

Pool Days

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, campers can swim in the Gymnasium pool. Our counselors and directors are CPR and AED certified and are in the pool with the campers to maximize safety, as well as the two lifeguards on duty. If you don't feel that your child is a strong swimmer, they can bring a life jacket from home, which they will then have to wear in the pool. Our counselors also offer a swim test for those campers who would like to swim in the deep end. Campers need to be able to swim from one side of the pool to the other, with no help to pass the test. Retakes are offered on the next pool day.

Field Trip Days

Every Wednesday, we go on a field trip, which usually goes with our weekly theme. We leave around eleven in the morning and take a bus to our desired location. Campers need to bring their lunch on the bus as well as wear their SKC camp shirt, which is given to them that morning. We head back to camp and usually return at three, depending on traffic.

Fun Fridays

Super Kids are treated to special surprises put on by our four directors. These events usually go with the week's theme. Past events included visits from the Big Cat Show, Service Dogs, dance parties, and much more!
