Pear Joy

Grapes and wine are not the only stars of northern California agriculture. Pears share some of the limelight, too, especially during the Kelseyville Pear Festival. The annual homage to the fruit features all things pear—from pies to margaritas—as well as more than 130 craft and food vendors. Grab a treat and a glass of local wine and stroll through booths, visit the horse fair and antique tractor display, or take the kids to draw on the traveling mural. The Clearlake Clickers, a multi-generational tap-dance troupe, will provide entertainment along with “swamp rockers” Hot Roux and the blues and R&B band the Hip Replacements. The action happens on September 29 on Main Street in Kelseyville. A parade kicks off the day at 9:30 a.m. and festivities run until 4 p.m. See pearfestival.com for more information.
