Cast a Musical Spell

You may think that, when it comes to kids, classical music is a big yawn. But the Santa Rosa Symphony aims to make it exciting. Their special narrated family program, the Conductor’s Spellbook, has kids casting magical spells on the orchestra and learning about instruments along the way. See it on October 28 at 3 p.m. at Weill Hall at the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park. Arrive at 2 p.m. for a free photo booth and instrument “petting zoo.” Tickets for the performance are $12–$18 and may be purchased via srsymphony.org/EventDetail/146. (To get the gist of what the program will be like, check out the video at the same URL.)
