The Science of Hope

Scientists are learning that stress isn’t just a psychological experience; it’s a physiological state. The film Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope shows how this knowledge is shifting the way some educators, psychotherapists, and physicians approach their work. See a free screening of the film on May 14 at 5:30 p.m. at the Clover Theater in Cloverdale. Seating is limited; RSVP by May 10 via eventbrite.com (search on “Resilience”). To find out more about the film, which was an official Sundance Film Festival selection in 2016, see kpjrfilms.co/resilience. For those interested in exploring constructive ways to address stress in their lives, Thrive Acupuncture and Wellness Corporation in Santa Rosa is hosting the workshop Resiliency 101: Art and Science of Thriving on May 21 at 6 p.m. Admission is $20 and proceeds go to the Ceres Community Project, which provides meals to the critically ill. Purchase tickets via eventbrite.com (search on “Resiliency 101”).
