For parents-to-be, preparing for birth can be as scary as it is exciting. The Inspired Birth childbirth education class aims to ease anxieties through childbirth education. In the three-hour class, taught by doula Kelly Gray, participants will learn about the hormones of labor and practice massage, breath work, and communication techniques as well positions for grounding and opening the pelvic floor. The class will be held on June 30, 3–6 p.m., at West County Herb Company in Occidental, and costs $95. Register on Eventbrite (search on “Inspired Birth”) or at ninemoonsdoula.com. Meanwhile, the Birth Herbs: Daylong Workshop on Herbs for Pregnancy and Birth will teach expectant mothers how to use herbs to alleviate the discomforts of pregnancy and labor. The class will be held on June 23, 11 a.m.–4 p.m., at the Stinging Nettle in Sonoma. Registration fees are on a sliding scale, $75–$125. Sign up on Eventbrite (search on “Birth Herbs”).
