Sep 04, 2019 04:12PM

Lions and tigers and astronauts, oh my! Sonoma County Library cardholders are now able to explore National Geographic Kids’ virtual library focusing on science, nature, culture and space for children ages 6 to 14. Sonoma County Library has added the module to its digital collection, available immediately.

The National Geographic Kids module is a part of the overall National Geographic Virtual Library. Children can explore educational subject areas through the online database, perusing books, videos, magazines and pictures produced by National Geographic.

“We’re delighted to offer Sonoma County Library patrons a high-quality collection of content from National Geographic Kids,” said Sonoma County Library Digital Selection Librarian Sandra Breedlove. “This new selection of digital titles fosters learning for our young readers, encouraging them to take a deep dive into subjects found in our world or out of it.”

With the extensive digital resource, library patrons have access to:

  • The complete run of National Geographic’s Kids magazine from 2009 to present
  • Over 500 books from the National Geographic Kids Collections and Ladder Readers
  • 865 photos
  • 203 videos

The module is searchable for report research, browsable for general interest exploration and available online 24/7.

Patrons can access National Geographic Kids module at sonomalibrary.org/library-collection/national-geographic-kids, through the A-Z list under eResources, on the Kids Homework Center pages under applicable subject headings and on the Kids Fun & Games page. Access to National Geographic Kids module is free and open to all with a Sonoma County Library card.
