Free eBooks for the Visually Impaired
Reading is a way to learn about practically any topic, and also many people read just for fun. BookShare wants to make sure the written word is available to everyone, even kids who have visual impairments or a disability that makes it difficult for them to read. The site offers free access to an online library of more than 900,000 textbooks and popular books, including young adult and children’s titles. Digital books may include karoke-style highlighting, to help kids maintain focus, or be set in large font or braille. Audio books are also available. Applicants must have a “proof of disability” form signed by a qualified expert. Find out more at bookshare.org.
