Join a Drive-Thru Earth Day Celebration

Since 1970, Earth Day has been raising awareness about environmental issues. This year, there are two local versions of the event, one drive-thru and one in-person. The city of Santa Rosa will host the former on April 22, 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Families can drive to the Place to Play Community Park in Santa Rosa and receive free Kids’ Eco-Exploration Guides containing eco-friendly activities and reusable items. Adults will receive WaterSmart Toolkits that include flow bags, dye tabs, and additional water-saving resources. (Participants will stay in their cars while items are placed in the trunks of their vehicles.) Meanwhile, on April 24 Sonoma County Parks will host Love Your Mother: Clean Your Creek at Maxwell Farms Regional Park. Socially distanced participants will help clean up litter and debris at the park in two sessions: 9–11 a.m. and 10 a.m.–noon. Sign up for either session at tinyurl.com/44y848ad. Masks are required at all events.
