Learn How Trees Talk

Plants communicate. That isn’t a New Age belief; it’s a scientifically verifiable reality—one, that UC Berkeley doctoral candidate Lorenzo Washington will discuss at the webinar Language of the Land: A Peek into the Wood-Wide-Web. Washington will explore how trees, other plants, and fungi “talk” to each other through extensive underground networks. He’ll also explore how these networks can inform the creation of agricultural cultivation strategies. The lecture, which will be held on September 30 at 7 p.m., is for adults, but highschoolers hungry for knowledge about the plant world may enjoy it, too.
