In Vietnam, the Lunar New Year is celebrated with a lion dance, which is thought to impart good luck. Elaborately costumed dancers use a combination of martial arts and folk dance steps to move and shake the many different parts of the “lion.” Watch the Sonoma Vietnamese Association perform the traditional spectacle for free on December 18, 2–2:30 p.m., at the Roseland Regional Library in Santa Rosa.
