Turkey Fun!

To make your Thanksgiving gathering more fun, you can choose from a variety of games for all ages. Printable games and trivia are great for playing while everyone is gathered around the table, while relay races can get the family moving outdoors.

Indoor Family Games

Thanksgiving "Would You Rather": A special holiday-themed book with "would you rather" questions can be a funny conversation starter and a good way to engage all ages. You can also make up your own questions.

Thanksgiving Friendly Feud: Divide the family into teams for a holiday version of the game show. Create your own questions or use printable versions that are available online.

Thanksgiving Bingo: Use Bingo cards with holiday-related words and pictures to play with the whole family. For an extra challenge, create riddles or clues for each item instead of just calling them out.

Thanksgiving Word Scramble: You can find printable game packs for this classic word puzzle game. All you need are pens and paper for a low-prep activity.

"Roll a Turkey": In this printable game, players roll a die to determine which body parts to add to their drawn turkey.

"Pass the Gift" Poem: A fun way to exchange gifts, this game uses a poem with "left" and "right" cues to direct players to pass a gift to the person next to them.

Forbidden Words: Choose certain Thanksgiving-related words that can't be said during dinner. If someone slips up, they have to put a clothespin or sticker on themselves. The player with the fewest markers at the end wins.

Gratitude Game: Have each person write down something they are thankful for, fold the paper up, and put it in a jar. Take turns having players act out the item for the group to guess.

Thanksgiving Charades: Write down holiday-related words and phrases for teams to act out, such as "eating pie" or "stuffing a turkey".

Outdoor Family Games

Turkey Trot: Take part in a local Turkey Trot race or organize your own family fun run in the neighborhood.

Pumpkin Toss or Bowling: Use mini pumpkins or gourds as bowling balls or for a bean bag toss.

Turkey Relay Race: Use a potato or ball to waddle from a starting point to a finish line, holding the item between your knees. Or use a turkey baster to blow a feather across the floor in a race.

Sack Race: All you need are some large sacks and an open space for this fun, energetic game.

Specifically For Little Ones

Turkey Baster Feather Race: Give young children a turkey baster and a craft feather. They can have fun squeezing the baster to blow the feather across the floor.

Thanksgiving "I Spy": Find printable versions of this game with pictures of pumpkins, turkey legs, pies, and more. It's a great activity for little ones waiting for dinner.

Turkey Trot Freeze Dance: Play music and have kids dance around like turkeys. When the music stops, they have to freeze in their silliest turkey pose.
