Expand your student’s horizons this June!
Incoming 8th and 9th graders across Sonoma, Napa, and Marin Counties are invited to build robots, create art, learn how to become millionaires, and more in hands-on, one-week courses this June at Quest Forward Academy.
These thought-provoking, skills-building courses are designed for middle school students, especially those who are headed to high school this August.
They’ll see an innovative high school in action and get to know teachers in a welcoming environment.
Class sizes are limited to ensure a high-quality experience for all.
Students are encouraged to sign up for both morning and afternoon classes, they may enjoy their lunches together with our team between 11:45 and 12:15.

Robotics
JUNE 20–24 | MORNING SESSION | 9:00AM–11:45AMEver have dreams of building your own robot? Build and code the basics of robots. Arduino is a programmable board to which you can connect lights and sensors. We will learn how to build circuits containing different devices. We will also learn how to code in Arduino to manipulate the devices.

Creative Writing: Reading and Writing About Nature
JUNE 20–24 | MORNING SESSION | 9:00AM–11:45AMOur fear, reverence, and curiosity of the natural world have driven us to explore nature’s majesty through art. In this course, you will dive into nature writers’ obsession with the natural world. You will create plays, poetry, lyrics, and short stories that explore your own relationship with nature.

Gaming: Geography and Geopolitics
JUNE 20–24 | AFTERNOON SESSION | 12:15PM–3:00PMWe will study how geography affects the people, societies, and civilizations living upon it. We will use games that use those same geographic constraints so that students may interact with and learn geopolitics in a dynamic and interactive setting.

Food Chemistry
JUNE 27–JULY 1 | MORNING SESSION | 9:00AM–11:45AMFood chemistry deals with the chemistry behind the biochemical nature of food, their properties, and how they are processed in the body. It involves the study of chemical components of the three macromolecules: fats, carbohydrates and proteins. In food chemistry, we will learn how different processing techniques affect a certain type of food and also ways to enhance the quality of food. Note: foods will contain gluten and may contain dairy.

Financial Literacy: Fun with Funds
JUNE 27–JULY 1 | MORNING SESSION | 9:00AM–11:45AMMake millions of dollars! Like money? Want to make money? Want to make money make its own money? Come learn financial literacy! You will learn the basics of savings, investing, and spending. We will play games that teach you how to become a millionaire. You will walk away with key information you need to set yourself up for a lifetime of financial success.

Container Gardening
JUNE 27–JULY 1 | AFTERNOON SESSION | 12:15PM–3:00PMBuild a container garden from start to finish, including the necessary math for planning, woodwork, and carpentry (students will not use the saws). We will explore the science related to light, moisture, seeds, composting, and growing food. The containers will remain on school property after the session’s end, but students will go home armed with the plans and know-how to create their own.
