COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT) PROGRAM

AT CHALLENGE SONOMA ADVENTURE ROPES COURSE AND C-4 ROPES COURSE. For older campers interested in becoming trained counselors, the Counselor In Training (CIT) program offers a progressive journey.

In the first year (age 13), participants experience the full camp at standard pricing, blending camper activities with an introduction to increased responsibilities. They are often paired with younger campers to help with activities and assist counselors with tasks like arts and crafts, transitioning between activities, and more.

The second year (age 14) adds a reduced camp fee and increased responsibilities along with the first year responsibilities, such as assisting with snacks and games.

In the third year (age 15), there is a further reduction in camp fee, and additional responsibilities include helping with the ropes course, learning ropes course techniques, leading camp games, face painting, and more.

This phased approach allows for a gradual and age-appropriate escalation in responsibilities, all while allowing CITs to actively engage in camp activities and enjoy their camper experience.

Following the third year, CITs typically conclude their training with a final year as camp volunteers, serving as junior counselors paired with lead counselors. During this stage, they learn the last facets of counselor responsibilities, receive training as ropes course leaders, and lead activities under supervision.

For additional information call Diana at (707) 484-7759.
