FREE GMRS RADIO AND TRAINING FOR WHEN COMMUNICATIONS ARE DOWN
Be ready when traditional communications are down by getting GMRS trained. Free event for Sonoma County.
Be ready when traditional communications are not accessible. The Town of Windsor and Windsor COPE have set up a free workshop with North Bay Communications Cooperative to help Sonoma County stay connected and informed when other communications are down. GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) radios are two-way radios that have a further reach than walkie talkies because they use repeaters. Communication using GMRS will be feasible when other communications are down. See the image for information about the training workshop and GMRS.
This is a great opportunity to get free GMRS training plus a free radio so sign up before the workshop fills up. To reserve your spot, go to https://www.eventbrite.com/.../windsor-emergency-radio.... If you can’t make the Windsor training, North Bay Communications Cooperative is offering classes in other cities. Go to https://www.wiconduit.org/radio.html to see locations and dates. Their workshops are open to all County residents and there is a limit to the number of attendees.
This is also a good time to form your own neighborhood group so you can be ready together, especially during shelter in place orders. The COPE (Communities Organized to Prepare for Emergencies) program and other neighborhood programs can help you do that. Contact [email protected] for more information. Please share this invite.
